How it works

Export your WhatsApp chat (from the chat menu → More → Export Chat → Without Media), then paste the exported text here. The cleaner automatically detects the timestamp format, removes media placeholders, system messages, and deleted message notices. Optionally anonymize or remove sender names for privacy.

What chat formats does this tool support?
It supports common WhatsApp export formats including 12-hour timestamps (8:30 AM), 24-hour timestamps (20:30), bracketed timestamps ([10/07/2026, 8:30:12 PM]), and ISO-style dates (2026/07/10). It also handles multi-line messages and group chat messages.
Is my chat data uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your chat text never leaves your device. However, please review sensitive chat content before sharing it anywhere — including with AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude.
Can I anonymize sender names?
Yes. Enable 'Anonymize sender names' to replace all sender names with Person 1, Person 2, etc. This preserves the conversation structure while protecting identities. You can also completely remove sender names if you prefer.
What gets removed by default?
By default, the cleaner removes timestamps, media omitted lines (images, videos, audio, stickers), deleted message notifications, and system messages (encryption notices, group changes). You can toggle each option individually.
